Introduction
To celebrate the long-expected arrival of Ben Jordan Case 8, the latest and final in the popular Ben Jordan adventure game series, I decided to review each game of the series in order of their release, including the deluxe editions of case 1 and 2. Please note that I’ve played the BJ games many times before, so you won’t find unbiased reviews by a first-time-player here. What you can expect is me revisiting the series from the point of view as a game designer, looking into what works and doesn’t work in my opinion.
Ben Jordan is an immensely important game series for me. Not only did creator Francisco Gonzalez aka Grundislav manage to constantly entertain me over the years with each new entry of the series, I also started to follow his development journals and thus got a first peek into the indie game development process, which culminated in me starting to work on my own AGS game series in 2009 when the tantalizing wait for BJ8 seemed to become unbearable.
But enough with the introducing words, let’s dive into the Ben Jordan series!
